About Us

The purpose of the Asian Student Union is to advocate for the Asian/Asian Pacific American(A/APA) community to administrators, faculty, and other student groups; to educate and create awareness for A/APA political and social issues; and to promote and foster pan-Asian American community building.

As the advocate for the A/APA community we work with other organizations such as Student Council or Honor to address minority concerns. ASU regularly organizes speakers and presentations to educate the community on A/APA political and social issues, as well as coordinates trips to conferences such as the East Coast Asian American Student Union(ECAASU) conference. Finally the Asian Leaders Council which is overseen by the ASU, is one way through which the presidents and vice presidents of A/APA organizations network and work together to build and strengthen the community.

ASU differs from the other Asian organizations because we cater to the entire A/APA population. Our officers come from different walks and represent the diversity of our community. They are also active members in various cultural, Greek, leadership, and other clubs. Together they evaluate and try to meet the needs of the A/APA population.

Our goal for the 07-08 term is to promote more unity and to increase awareness of important issues that affect the A/APA community. Our general meetings are held once per month. For more information on how to become more involved, contact the president and membership chairs.
